The most beautiful Spring day in Western New York, clear and bright, green popping out and geese and ganders gaggling.

Directly across from the Erie canal tour boat dock is a quiet public park. It offers a wall of old rock foundations and a path up the side of the locks.
Two tour boats take groups up the locks through the town of Lockport and back.

Bad Spring weather kept me from painting outdoors, so I continued indoors at the Botanical Gardens in South Buffalo.
People regularly pass this giant lemon tree but few notice the grapefruit sized lemons concealed under the heavy leaves. I sat very low and looked up to see this fruit.

Grandma always had a big floppy Cattleya orchid for Easter that grew floppier as the day went by. This yellow beauty begged to be preserved in a painting.
